Learning the Arabic language offers several benefits, including network opportunities. There are various dialects since it is spoken across the Middle East and northern Africa. There are different accents and local pronunciations, such as Egyptian Colloquial Arabic, which is often spoken in TV shows and movies. Here are the different Arabic dialects that you can learn:

Modern Standard Arabic

Modern Standard Arabic language is the official language of 22 countries and is often used in schools, media, speeches, or debates. The dialect may be used in formal settings, such as newspapers or radio. It is a modernized version of Classical Arabic.

At Arab Academy, we offer several courses for students at each speaking level, including the basics. Students with no prior knowledge of the language will learn to communicate with native speakers. They’ll also learn how to order food, talk about daily routines, and ask for directions. At the end of the course, students will understand the basic structures of Modern Standard Arabic.

Egyptian Colloquial Arabic

While Modern Standard Arabic remains the same from country to country, colloquial Arabic changes based on geographical location. Egyptian Colloquial Arabic has become mainstream through movies, films, and TV programs. Many Arabic speakers in the community are exposed to the dialect and can understand the pronunciation. This allows Arabic speakers to use Egyptian Colloquial to communicate with speakers from other regions.

The course offers an introduction to the Arabic sound system and script. Students will learn the alphabet and the history of the Arabic language. Learners should be familiar with the Arabic writing system at the end of the beginner’s course.

Quranic and Islamic Arabic

This version of Arabic is used in the Quran or Islamic holy book. Wording styles make it different from modern standard Arabic. Students will have the chance to learn more about the prophets, such as Adam, and then progress in chronological order.

Quranic Arabic classes also teaches Tajweed, the Quran recitation rules. To preserve the meaning and respect of the Quran, the Tajweed rules help students learn correct pronunciation to avoid miscommunication. They will learn the verses and each word’s meaning. The sentence structure is similar to the modern standard Arabic, while the groupings, context, and some words are different. We offer one-on-one classes with our tutors and experienced teachers. The course also provides Hifz, or memorization, and we help customize the program for you.
