| Description: This level presents
an introduction to the Arabic sound system and script. Pronunciation
and writing of every letter is given separately and in context. It is
a prerequisite to all other courses. |

| Duration: One Month |

| Description: This level is suitable for learners who have studied the Arabic alphabet and know nothing or very little beyond this. It presents systematic and structured material in Modern Standard Arabic. The course revolves around daily life survival situations. Students learn to exchange greetings, introduce themselves, describe people and fzeelings, express their feelings in one word (happy, sad, hungry, etc.). They also learn to welcome guests, exchange polite greetings when socializing, and congratulate people. At the end of the study period, students would be able to describe people, socialize, talk about their apartments and shop for their clothes. |

| Description: This level is suitable for learners who have studied Arabic for one semester previously. It revolves around daily life situations. Students learn how to describe tourist sites that they have visited and to ask for directions in order to reach their destination. They also learn how to order food, and describe countries. They learn to shop, conduct phonecalls and talk about their jobs. At end of the study period leaners should be able to enter any restaurant and order food, ask for directions on the streets, shop and talk on the phone. |

| Description: The novice high level
is for students who are familiar with daily life situations in Modern
Standard Arabic and are preparing to move up to communicating on professional
topics. This level aims at bridging the gap between the novice and intermediate
levels. Students are exposed to a combination of both simplified and authentic
material in order to prepare them for the next level, which will only
deal with authentic material taken from Arab media. The course is based
on songs and short stories. At the end of the course, students are able
to express themselves on topics that go beyond daily life situations into
social issues related to the world around them. |

| Contact hours: 4 hours a day / 5 days a week
/ 4 weeks ACTFL Listening & Speaking Scales: Intermediate Low |
| Description: This is the first
in a series of three courses at the intermediate level. This courses
paves the way for students to learn Arabic for professional reasons.
The objective of this intermediate level course is to expose learners
to authentic texts, news broadcasts and other media. It is based on
newspaper articles covering ten general topics: Society, Health Care,
Family problems, Housing Problems, Economic Problems, Human Issues,
Health, Women, Diseases in Modern Societies, and Arabic Songs. At the
end of the level, students should be able to communicate and engage
in meaningful discussions with native speakers over the range of topics
they studied. |

| Contact hours: 4 hours a day / 5 days a week
/ 4 weeks ACTFL Listening & Speaking Scales: Intermediate Mid |
| Description: This course is designed for students who have completed one semester at the intermediate level. The objective of this intermediate level course is to expand on learners' ability to handle authentic texts taken from Arab newspapers, news broadcasts and other media. It is based on newspaper articles covering ten topics: Crimes, Stereotypes, Arab Café, Weapons, Peace, Arab Medicine, Arab Authors , Environment, Arab Markets, and International Politics. At the end of the level, students should be able to communicate and engage in meaningful discussions with native speakers over a quite a wide range of professional topics. |

/ 4 weeks ACTFL Listening & Speaking Scales: Intermediate High |
| Description: This course is designed for students who have completed two semesters at the intermediate level. The course aims at enabling learners to attain complete confidence in dealing with authentic texts taken from Arab newspapers, news broadcasts and other media. This course is based on newspaper articles covering ten topics: Marriage, Food, Education, Traditional Arts, Science of Economics, Games, Heritage, Arab Leaders, Islam, and Messages with Personal Problems. At the end of the level, students should be able to communicate and engage in meaningful discussions with native speakers over a wide range of professional topics. |

Description: This is a series of four courses that focus on the development of listening skills at the advanced level. The courses are based on interviews on Arabic channels that discuss diverse professional issues related to history, politics, economics, religion, ... The courses expand your knowledge of the Arab world as it presents oral discussions that take place in Arabic between intellectuals in the Middle East. At the end of the course, students should be able to listen to native speakers engaged in professional discussions at normal speed with a fair degree of understanding. |
